Brief personal introduction: I have been teaching EBD/LD students for 12 years; I have been employed at WBHS for the past 6 years as a high school EBD/LD instructor.

The topic of the unit: Employability Skills
The project idea— The pupose of teaching students work skills is to prepare them to be self- sufficient members of society. In today's economy our students are going to have a difficult time obtaining/maintaining a job when they are competing against people with more education and experience than they have. Students need to be aware of the Employability Skills employers are looking for in an employee, and how these skills differ from job to job. Students will critique and give constructive criticism to their peers and beable to take the constructive criticsm of others and better thier skills. Many of my students come from families that don't place education and work as a top priority. These students need more real life experiences and application of skills and less lecture and book learning to make these skills concrete.
